No fewer than 110 local and international golfers are expected to participate in the maiden edition of the Ibadan Mesiogo Open scheduled to commence on Wednesday.
Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Abayomi Oke, in a statement in Ibadan on Tuesday, said 69 local golfers and 41 foreign golfers from 18 countries are taking part.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event is organized by the state government in conjunction with the Actuaries and Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII). The commissioner stated that the competition, which ends on Sunday, would start with the IMEGA Women Empowerment and Fund ceremony on Wednesday. “Gov. Abiola Ajimobi will tee off the golf competition for professional golfers at the Ibadan Golf Club on Thursday. “Also, the IMEGA 2017 Awards will hold on Saturday, while the IMEGA Amateur Open for amateur golfers will take place at the IGC on Sunday,’’ he said.
